Bio
Alastair Chuah is a multidisciplinary artist working across physical artworks, image-making, moving image, sound, and digital worldbuilding. His work brings together symbolic figuration, fragments, masks, emotional residue, and narrative drift, often treating the artwork as an artefact from a wider fictional or psychological system.
Alongside physical pieces, his wider practice extends into music, visual culture, and immersive digital environments.
Statement
The practice is concerned with the symbolic afterlife of contemporary life: the way memory, pressure, absurdity, theatrical identity, and psychic debris continue to accumulate around bodies, images, and systems. Rather than moving toward polished resolution, the work often stays open, unstable, and emotionally charged.
Some pieces function as singular physical objects; others feel more like fragments from a larger field of signals. Across both, the aim is not simply style but atmosphere: a charged relation between image, tension, humour, vulnerability, and myth.
